Mumbai, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Vardhan Puri recently reflected on his fond memories of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with his family, particularly his late grandfather, the legendary actor Amrish Puri. For Vardhan, this festival is a time when the entire family comes together to honor traditions and create lasting memories.
Recalling his favorite childhood moments, Vardhan shared that the family began the tradition of welcoming Ganpati into their home by preparing Modaks, the deity’s favorite sweet, together. “Everyone participated, including my grandfather, grandmother, parents, sister Saachi, and the rest of the family,” he said.
He emphasized that this tradition continues today. “Every year, Ganpati’s arrival brings immense love, joy, and celebration to our family. It feels like a beautiful blessing to celebrate this occasion together,” Vardhan noted.
Describing how his family celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi, he explained that relatives from around the world gather in one place. Vardhan brings the same Ganpati idol from his temple into the living room, where they celebrate for two days with delicious Maharashtrian food and plenty of Modaks.
After the two-day festival, the family lovingly returns Ganpati to the temple. They also bring eco-friendly idols made from coconuts for immersion. “While celebrating Ganpati, it’s also important to care for Mother Earth. The essence of this celebration is that every year, Ganpati brings our family closer together. For us, Ganesh Chaturthi is not just a religious festival, but an opportunity to spend time with family and strengthen our bonds,” he added.
Vardhan Puri is the grandson of the iconic Amrish Puri, who left an indelible mark on Hindi cinema with his powerful performances. Known for his unforgettable role as Mogambo in the film “Mr. India,” Amrish Puri remains a beloved figure in the industry. He passed away on January 12, 2005, at the age of 72, but his legacy continues to resonate with audiences today.
