Bhopal, March 19: The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has issued a strict directive regarding the sale of meat during Ram Navami and other festivals. It has been clearly stated that meat sales will be completely prohibited on four specific festival days within the municipal limits. Any shop found selling meat on these days will face license cancellation and police action.
The corporation has specifically mentioned that all meat shops will remain closed during Cheti Chand (the largest and most significant festival of the Sindhi community), Ram Navami, Mahavir Jayanti, and Buddha Jayanti. These orders have been issued considering the religious and cultural significance of these festivals. The administration has clarified that this rule will apply equally to all vendors, and strict action will be taken against violators.
On Cheti Chand, which falls on March 20, 2026, all meat-selling establishments within Bhopal’s municipal limits must remain closed. The same regulations will apply on March 27 for Ram Navami, March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti, and May 1 for Buddha Jayanti.
If any vendor is caught selling meat on these days, they will be held fully responsible. The municipal corporation will cancel their license and initiate necessary legal actions through the police. The public relations department of the corporation has appealed to all vendors and citizens to adhere to these orders and refrain from meat sales during these days.
Under this directive, the administration will also ensure strict action against those who violate the rules. Meat vendors are advised to plan their stock and business operations in accordance with these four festivals to avoid any legal complications.
