Ranchi, March 25: Preparations for the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Jharkhand have been expedited. Chief Electoral Officer Ravi Kumar held a review meeting with deputy electoral officers from all districts on Wednesday, instructing them to complete the preliminary processes of SIR in a timely manner.
He emphasized that the goal of this entire process is to create an accurate, transparent, and error-free voter list, ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out. During the review meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer urged for a swift implementation of the initiative to place stickers with Block Level Officer (BLO) information on voters’ homes. These stickers will include the BLO’s name, mobile number, and house number, allowing voters to contact them directly. This initiative is part of the ongoing door-to-door verification campaign, where BLOs are visiting each home to fill out enumeration forms.
He also instructed that voters whose names have not been mapped from the previous intensive revision list to the current list can use the “Book a Call” feature on the Election Commission’s ECI Net platform to reach out to their BLOs. This effort aims to simplify the process of adding or correcting names on the voter list. Officials were also directed to prepare lists of absent, shifted, deceased, and duplicate voters at all polling stations.
Particularly, voters registered at old addresses of displaced or demolished homes must be included in the shifted list. Additionally, during the mapping of houses, the previously assigned house numbers should be maintained, and notional numbers should only be assigned when absolutely necessary.
Earlier, the Chief Electoral Officer had shared detailed information about the SIR process in a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties and requested their cooperation. The commission has urged political parties to expedite the appointment and training of booth-level agents (BLA) to enhance coordination with BLOs at the grassroots level.
The Election Commission has also clarified that the lists of absent, shifted, deceased, and duplicate voters will be made public only after being certified by the agents of political parties through the BLOs. This will help eliminate fraudulent names and enhance the reliability of the voter list.
