
New Delhi, April 25: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of Delhi has taken decisive action against corruption, negligence, and administrative irregularities by enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy. This has led to a significant administrative overhaul in the Trade and Taxes (GST) department.
Following a surprise inspection on April 8 at the State GST office in ITO, serious irregularities and the absence of officials were noted. In response, the Chief Minister has ordered the transfer of a total of 162 officers and staff, including three Assistant Commissioners.
During her inspection, the Chief Minister emphasized that discipline applies not only to lower-level employees but equally to officials at the Commissioner and Special Commissioner levels. She mandated biometric attendance and instructed that absent officials be issued show-cause notices. Furthermore, she stated that if public work is disrupted, the responsible official will be held accountable.
In line with these directives, a large-scale transfer has been executed. This includes the relocation of 162 officers and employees who had been stationed at the same location for over three years. Among those transferred are 58 Section Officers (Grade-1), 22 Assistant Section Officers (Grade-2), 74 Senior Assistants (Grade-3), and 5 Junior Assistants (Grade-4).
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has made it clear that ensuring transparency and accountability in administration is the government’s top priority, and any level of corruption or irregularity will not be tolerated. She also reiterated that surprise inspections will continue, and strict action will be taken against those negligent in public service.
