Strict Action Against Unrecognized Schools and Illegal Coaching in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, April 7: The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council has taken a firm stance against unrecognized schools and illegal private coaching activities. A statewide campaign has been initiated to address these issues.

The council has instructed officials to take action within a specified timeframe and submit reports. Secretary Bhagwati Singh issued orders on Tuesday, directing all District School Inspectors (DIOS), District Basic Education Officers (BSA), and Block Education Officers (BEO) to conduct this special campaign by April 18.

This campaign aims to identify unrecognized schools and ensure strict action against them. Complaints have been consistently received regarding the operation of unrecognized schools in several districts. Additionally, some teachers from recognized schools are found to be teaching in private coaching institutions, which is against regulations.

The council has labeled this as a violation of the Right to Education Act, 2009, and other applicable provisions. The directives clearly state that operating unrecognized schools is completely prohibited, and severe legal action, along with financial penalties, will be imposed in such cases. Furthermore, departmental action will be taken against teachers found involved in private coaching.

In compliance with the High Court’s directives, a pre-formed district-level committee—chaired by the DIOS and including the BSA and BEO as members—has been tasked with overseeing this campaign. This committee will ensure investigations and actions are carried out in their respective districts.

The council has instructed all districts to submit a detailed report by April 30, following the completion of the campaign. This report must include the number of illegal schools identified, actions taken, details of teachers involved in private coaching, and the steps taken against them. This initiative is considered a significant step towards making the education system in the state more transparent, disciplined, and quality-oriented.
