Strict Action Against Six Miscreants in Sopore Under Public Safety Act

Sopore, April 24: In a decisive move to maintain public order, Sopore police have registered cases against six miscreants under the Public Safety Act (PSA). These individuals are accused of attempting to disrupt law and order during a recent student protest in Sopore.

The accused have been identified as Umar Akbar Hazam, Salman Ahmed, Altaf Ahmed Sheikh, Mubashir Ahmed Gilkar, Mujammil Mushtaq Changa, and Majid Firdous Dar. Sopore police officials stated that all suspects have been detained under the PSA after obtaining the necessary custody warrants from the competent authority (District Magistrate) and have been sent to Bhaderwah District Jail.

According to officials, these miscreants were actively involved in inciting unrest, vandalism, and attempts to disturb peace during the recent student protests. Their actions posed a significant threat to public safety and order.

Sopore police reiterated their commitment to a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against any illegal activities that jeopardize peace and stability in the district. Furthermore, efforts are underway to identify other individuals involved in these incidents, and similar legal actions are being pursued against them as well.

The police issued a stern warning against exploiting sensitive situations or engaging in activities that disrupt public order, emphasizing that strict and immediate action will be taken under the law.

Authorities advised the general public, especially the youth, to steer clear of such illegal activities and not fall prey to the provocations of anti-social elements. They also urged parents and community leaders to guide their children properly, ensuring they engage in constructive activities.
