Strengthening India-Singapore Semiconductor Collaboration: New Investments on the Horizon

New Delhi, April 18: The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) has partnered with the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) to enhance strategic collaboration in the semiconductor sector. A high-level industry meeting was convened in Singapore on Friday, focusing on deepening cooperation in the semiconductor and electronics value chain.

Key stakeholders from both India and Singapore participated in the meeting, emphasizing the complementary strengths of both nations. Singapore leads in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment, and global supply chains, while India is emerging as a strong partner due to its growing manufacturing capabilities, supportive policies, and large market.

This initiative follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between ICEA and SSIA, aimed at establishing a structured framework for long-term industrial collaboration.

During the meeting, direct discussions took place regarding partnerships, investment opportunities, and technological cooperation between companies from both countries. The development of a reliable semiconductor corridor between India and Singapore was also highlighted.

The discussions focused on strengthening the supply chain, co-development of technologies, joint ventures, investment flows, and opportunities in fabrication, equipment, materials, and precision engineering.

Industry leaders deliberated on policy support, skill development, and the readiness of the entire ecosystem.

Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of ICEA, stated that this partnership reflects a strong synergy between the two countries. He noted that while Singapore brings advanced manufacturing and global supply chain expertise, India offers scale, demand, and policy momentum, which are crucial for building a robust and diverse semiconductor ecosystem.

Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary of the Electronics and IT Ministry and CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission, remarked that India’s semiconductor journey has already gained momentum.
