Patna, April 18: Voting for various positions in the Patna High Court Advocates Association was completed peacefully on Friday, with 62% of the 5,262 eligible lawyers casting their votes.

The elections were held inside the Patna High Court premises after receiving proper administrative approval, under specific conditions. These included a ban on loudspeakers and measures to ensure that court proceedings continued without interruption.

Judges and lawyers conducted their daily court activities as they would on any regular working day. Voting arrangements were made in a designated area of the Patna High Court complex.

Voting took place from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the entire process was orderly and peaceful throughout the day.

This election will select representatives for several key positions, including President, General Secretary, three Vice Presidents, Joint Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and other roles.

A total of 109 candidates contested for nine different positions, making this election highly competitive. There were 24 candidates for three Vice President positions, 15 candidates for three Joint Secretary roles, and 12 candidates for three Assistant Secretary positions.

Lawyer voters utilized the traditional paper ballot method, marking a ‘cross’ next to their preferred candidate’s name. Any ballot paper marked with anything other than a cross would be deemed invalid.

After voting concluded, the ballot boxes were sealed in the presence of the candidates and transported to a secure location.

The peaceful conduct of the election and the robust participation of the legal community reflect the democratic spirit within one of the state’s most prominent legal institutions. All eyes are now on the results of this closely contested election.
