STF Arrests Five Kidnappers After Encounter in Sonipat, Two Injured

Sonipat, March 21: An encounter between the Special Task Force (STF) and criminals occurred in Bahadurgarh, Sonipat. During the clash, two criminals sustained injuries from police gunfire. Meanwhile, three other suspects were apprehended at the scene. The injured were taken to the district hospital for treatment.

According to the STF, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of five crore rupees for the release of Hunarjeet, the son of the owner of BDM College in Bahadurgarh. Acting on intelligence about the criminals near Mehndipur village in Sonipat, the STF set up a trap. Around 2 AM, police intercepted a Bolero vehicle carrying five suspicious individuals. The suspects opened fire, prompting the police to return fire. Injured in the exchange were Chitrandan, also known as Manjeet, and Vinny, while three others were arrested. The injured suspects were admitted to the district hospital in Sonipat.

Police recovered two pistols, four empty cartridges, and the Bolero vehicle from the suspects. Officers from the Murthal police station arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.

Family members reported that the ransom of five crore rupees was handed over near a canal bridge in the Rohtak IMT area, as directed by the kidnappers. After receiving the money, the criminals released Hunarjeet in a deserted area near Rohtak.

The arrested suspects had planned the kidnapping approximately 20 days prior. Manish, a veterinary college employee and a relative of the victim, provided the location of Hunarjeet on Holi, March 4, leading to the child’s abduction by unidentified individuals in a Scorpio. The police are currently interrogating the suspects.
