
Colombo, August 21: The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, hosted the Indian cricket team at India House in Colombo ahead of the second Test match against Sri Lanka, which begins on Sunday.
On Thursday night, High Commissioner Jha welcomed both the Indian and Sri Lankan teams. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared this event on its official X platform, describing it as a “memorable evening.”
BCCI tweeted, “A memorable evening in Colombo. The Indian High Commissioner, Santosh Jha, hosted the Indian team at India House before the second Test against Sri Lanka.”
Jha expressed his delight in hosting both teams and shared glimpses of the event on X. He captioned the post, “Cheering with Team India. It’s a pleasure to host the Indian and Sri Lankan men’s cricket teams during the ongoing ICC World Test Championship matches. Bound by a shared passion for the game, cricket is strengthening the enduring relationship between India and Sri Lanka.”
India leads the series 1-0 after a significant 165-run victory in the first Test in Galle. The Indian team scored 462 runs in their first innings, with Devdutt Padikkal contributing 167 runs. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 284 runs in their first innings, trailing by 178 runs. In their second innings, India managed 193 runs, setting Sri Lanka a target of 372 runs. Sri Lanka was dismissed for 206 runs in their second innings, losing the match by 165 runs. Manav Suthar took six wickets for India in the second innings.
