SRH Triumphs Over RCB: Captain Pat Cummins Praises Team Performance

Hyderabad, May 23: In a thrilling encounter of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a convincing 55-run victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Captain Pat Cummins expressed his delight with the team’s performance following the match.

After the win against RCB, Cummins stated, “The score we posted was remarkable. The batsmen performed excellently, and the bowlers also did well. Everyone is giving their all. It was a great wicket. We knew many things had to go our way. Yes, it was close. I think they were trying to ensure they reached that score to secure their place in the first qualifier. We attempted some different strategies against them, but it’s still a significant win.”

Cummins praised the bowlers’ efforts, saying, “The bowlers have been outstanding. I have learned a lot from them. The way Ishan Malinga has bowled throughout the season, especially in the powerplay, has been exceptional. He has been our best bowler with his slow balls and variations. Shakib Hussain has also impressed with his bowling.”

Currently sitting in third place on the points table, SRH will play the Eliminator match on May 27. Regarding preparations for the upcoming match in New Chandigarh, Cummins mentioned, “We still have 5-6 days left. We will take a few days to rest and then head there. The players are quite familiar with the ground. I believe we will know in a day or two which team we will face in the Eliminator.”

Batting first at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, SRH scored 255 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Abhishek Sharma (56), Ishan Kishan (79), and Heinrich Klaasen (51) all contributed with half-centuries. In response, RCB managed only 200 runs for 4 wickets, falling short of the massive target of 256 runs. SRH needed to defeat RCB by 90 runs or more to secure a top-two finish in the points table, but they were unable to achieve that.
