Moradabad: Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan has defended the young women from another community involved in the case of a Hindu minor girl being made to wear a burqa in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Hasan stated that the girl was not forced to wear the burqa and that her statement about coercion was given under social and organisational pressure.
In a conversation with news agency Daily Kiran, Hasan said, “Nothing of coercion is visible in the video. Initially, the Hindu girl herself had said that she wore the burqa voluntarily. Later, due to pressure from people, society, and certain organisations, she changed her statement as she needed to protect herself from those pressures.”
Following the filing of a case against five Muslim girls, Hasan defended them by saying, “All the girls were just having fun with their friends in a light-hearted manner. To my knowledge, the girl herself asked to wear the burqa. Once the full investigation is completed, the truth will come out clearly. If anything appears on the CCTV footage, that will also be clarified. Even on watching the video, it is evident that no one was forced. The girl appears calm and comfortable.”
Commenting on the resignation offer by Bareilly’s City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri, Hasan said, “The city magistrate offering to resign is a very serious matter for all of us. It shows a grave injustice is happening against Brahmins. We all know what is going on today, and the injustice done to Shankaracharya during the Kumbh at Sangam Ghat was very painful for everyone.”
Regarding the clash between Swami Avimukteshwaranand Shankaracharya and officials, Hasan stated, “Yogi Adityanath is also a saint. He should take strict action against those responsible for this incident. The officials involved should be suspended. If anyone apologises for their mistake, there is nothing wrong in that. Apologising is a sign of greatness. Therefore, I believe that if an esteemed figure like Shankaracharya is involved, even an apology would not be wrong.”
