New Delhi, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : As the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections approach, discussions between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress regarding seat-sharing have intensified. SP leader M.H. Khan stated that while no formal seat distribution has occurred yet, both parties are committed to contesting the elections together. The final decision will be made by key leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge.
Khan emphasized that as the elections draw closer, the allocation of seats will be finalized, akin to the arrangements made during the recent Madhya Pradesh elections. “There is no issue or conflict regarding this,” he assured.
He further clarified that the decision-making process will be exclusive to Yadav, Gandhi, and Kharge, dismissing any external opinions as attempts to undermine their parties.
In response to reports about the demolition of a nearly century-old temple in Pakistan, Khan condemned the act, stating that such actions are unacceptable. He stressed the importance of respecting places of worship, advocating for their reconstruction if they are indeed destroyed. “This is a message of humanity and a principle shared by all religions,” he added.
Addressing the ongoing political turmoil within the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Khan remarked that how the BSP chooses to campaign is their concern. “Our party is set to form the government in 2027, with Akhilesh Yadav as the next Chief Minister,” he asserted.
Khan refuted claims that the SP is a secondary party, noting that Yadav has been actively engaging with party members and forming committees to strengthen their grassroots efforts. He expressed confidence in the SP’s ability to win the elections, despite challenges posed by the Election Commission.
Congress MP Rakesh Rathore echoed these sentiments, highlighting the growing faith in Congress following Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Yatra” and his advocacy for constitutional rights. Rathore noted that Congress is preparing rigorously for the elections and is identifying strong candidates.
He acknowledged the coalition with the SP, stating, “We respect the alliance and are committed to fulfilling our responsibilities within it.” However, he also pointed out that the visibility of Congress flags in constituencies won by narrow margins should reflect the party’s contribution.
Rathore insisted that the seat allocation will be respectful and that any speculation to the contrary is unfounded. He reaffirmed Congress’s intent to adhere to the coalition’s principles while preparing for a robust performance in the upcoming elections.
