New Delhi, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : New Delhi‘s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated an Automated Testing Center (ATS) at the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Tehkhand Depot on Thursday. During the event, she also established public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Hassanpur and Ghazipur depots and flagged off 50 new zero-emission electric buses.
These initiatives are part of the Delhi government’s commitment to modernizing public transport, making it safer, more transparent, and environmentally friendly.
Additionally, Gupta launched an inter-state e-bus service connecting Delhi and Rewari. She unveiled a coffee table book about DTC during the ceremony.
Gupta emphasized that the government’s aim is not just to address problems but to provide sustainable solutions. She congratulated transport department officials and all stakeholders involved in these initiatives, reiterating the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Delhi’s transport system.
Present at the event were Delhi’s Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, senior officials, public representatives, and other dignitaries.
The Chief Minister highlighted that enhancing Delhi’s transport system requires continuous work in four key areas: safety, sustainability, seamless connectivity, and smart infrastructure. She stated that passenger safety remains the government’s top priority. In line with this, the new electric buses are equipped with CCTV cameras, panic buttons, and various other safety features.
Gupta noted that expanding the bus network is improving connectivity between different parts of the city, ensuring safer and more convenient public transport for residents. Reflecting on the previous term of the Aam Aadmi Party, she remarked that discussions about work often overshadowed actual progress.
