Southwest Monsoon Arrives in Eastern Rajasthan, Heavy Rainfall Warning Issued

Jaipur, July 2: The southwest monsoon has finally reached the eastern regions of Rajasthan as of Thursday. Its arrival in the state was delayed by seven days compared to the usual schedule.

According to the latest weather updates, the northern limit of the monsoon is currently passing through Tonk, Jaipur, and Alwar. Conditions remain favorable for its advancement into other parts of the state over the next two to three days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that, in addition to entering eastern Rajasthan, the southwest monsoon has also progressed into more parts of Gujarat, the remaining areas of Uttar Pradesh, the entire Delhi region, and most parts of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab.

The meteorological center has forecasted that the monsoon will remain active in eastern Rajasthan over the next 24 hours. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in parts of the Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and Jaipur divisions, with a significant likelihood of heavy rainfall, particularly in the districts of the Kota division.

In the coming days, the monsoon is anticipated to gain strength in the Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur, and Ajmer divisions. Most areas in eastern Rajasthan are likely to experience substantial rainfall, with some regions facing heavy downpours and others receiving light to moderate rain.

R.S. Sharma, the director of IMD Jaipur, advised residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant, as heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging. Meanwhile, weather activities are also expected to increase in western Rajasthan.

As the monsoon gradually advances in this region, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur in parts of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions in the coming days. The weather department has urged the public to stay updated with official weather information and exercise caution during heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning.

Farmers, travelers, and local authorities have also been advised to take necessary precautions in light of the weather conditions.
