Modipuram, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : A chlorine gas leak at the sewage treatment plant (STP) in Pallavpuram Phase-2, located in Modipuram, has caused widespread alarm among residents. Reports indicate that several individuals have fallen ill due to exposure to the gas, necessitating hospitalization for some.
Upon learning of the leak, the Pallavpuram Residents Welfare Association quickly alerted local residents. They urged the community to remain calm and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities. Residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed and to inform family members outside to return home immediately.
Special warnings were issued to vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues, advising them to stay away from the affected area. The leak has instilled a sense of fear among locals, prompting some to seal their homes while others ventured outside.
The leak reportedly originated within the STP premises. Following the incident, staff were dispatched to the site to control the situation and restore normalcy.
