Patna, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar has commenced a 21-day leave starting September 15, as announced in a notification from the Home Department. His leave will extend until October 5.
The leave has been granted for personal and health-related reasons, as per the provisions outlined in the All India Services (Leave) Rules of 1955.
During Kumar’s absence, Preeta Verma, an officer from the 1991 batch of the Indian Police Service, will take on the additional responsibilities of DGP. Currently, Verma holds the position of Director General and Commandant of the Home Guards and Fire Services in Bihar.
The state government has issued an order confirming that Verma will oversee the duties of the DGP while Kumar is on leave. The Home Department has circulated copies of the notification to relevant authorities and departments, including the Accountant General and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Additionally, the Home Department has instructed that the notification be uploaded to the departmental website. This arrangement will remain in effect until Kumar returns from his leave on October 5, after which he will resume his regular duties as DGP.
