New Delhi, June 21: The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 continues to showcase thrilling performances, with England securing a victory against Scotland by 38 runs in their 16th match of the tournament. The standout player for England was Sophie Ecclestone, who took 2 wickets for just 23 runs. With this achievement, Ecclestone has reached a milestone that no other English bowler has attained in T20 internationals.
In addition to her two wickets against Scotland, Ecclestone completed her 150th T20 International wicket, becoming the first English bowler to reach this landmark. She is now the fifth bowler globally to achieve 150 wickets in T20 internationals. So far, Ecclestone has played 109 T20 International matches for England and has claimed a total of 151 wickets. The record for the most wickets in T20 internationals is held by Indian bowler Deepti Sharma, who has taken 167 wickets in 146 matches.
Chasing a target of 201 runs set by England, Scotland managed to score only 162 runs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Sarah Bryce was the top scorer for Scotland with 34 runs, hitting 3 fours and a six. Darcy Carter contributed 29 runs off 23 balls, including 4 fours, while Pippa Sproul added 27 runs. Alongside Ecclestone, England’s bowling attack featured Linsey Smith, Charlie Dean, Gibson, and Freya Kemp, each taking one wicket.
England’s innings began poorly after losing the toss and batting first, with Amy Jones dismissed on the very first ball. Dan Wyatt also struggled, scoring just 7 runs before being out. However, Sophie Dunkley played a brilliant innings, scoring 57 runs off 37 balls, while Alice Capsy added 40 runs off 25 balls.
Heather Knight scored 25 runs from 19 balls before being dismissed by Priyanaz Chatterjee. In the final overs, Freya Kemp (39 not out off 16 balls) and Daniel Gibson (30 not out off 11 balls) formed a spectacular partnership, scoring 61 runs in just 21 balls, helping England reach the 200-run mark.
