Mumbai, March 12: Sonos has launched two new speakers, the Sonos Play and the Sonos Era 100 SL, enhancing its multi-room audio lineup. Both devices are designed to integrate seamlessly within the Sonos ecosystem, allowing users to connect them with other Sonos products for a comprehensive listening experience.
The Sonos Play is marketed as a versatile speaker suitable for both home and portable use. It connects via WiFi, enabling users to group speakers across different rooms or pair two units for stereo sound. Additionally, it comes with a Charging Base, designed to keep the speaker docked as part of a home audio setup.
For those seeking portable listening options, the Sonos Play features a removable utility loop for easy carrying and boasts an impressive battery life of up to 24 hours. With an IP67 rating, it is resistant to dust and water. The speaker also includes a built-in power bank that can charge a smartphone.
Sonos has introduced a new Bluetooth grouping feature, allowing users to connect the Sonos Play to their phones via Bluetooth. By pressing and holding the Play/Pause button, users can sync up to three additional Sonos Play or Sonos Move 2 speakers, enabling multiple speakers to play the same audio even when away from a WiFi network. Furthermore, the speaker supports Automatic Trueplay tuning, which adjusts sound output based on the surrounding environment.
The Sonos Play offers various control options, including voice services, Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, and the Sonos app. It also features optimized power management and a replaceable battery.
The Sonos Era 100 SL is a streamlined version of the Era 100, featuring a mic-free design. It serves as an entry-level option within the Sonos lineup while still delivering room-filling sound. This speaker can function as a standalone unit, be paired with another speaker for stereo sound, or be incorporated into a multi-room system. It is also suitable for use in a home theater setup.
Both speakers support playback from over 100 streaming services and can stream audio via WiFi or Bluetooth. Sonos states that the speakers were tuned with insights from the Sonos Soundboard, which includes professionals from the music and film industries.
