New Delhi, March 13: Amid ongoing conflicts in West Asia, concerns over fuel and gas supply are rising in the country. Senior leader of the Samajwadi Party and Rajya Sabha member Ram Gopal Yadav has raised questions regarding the central government’s assertions. He stated that the situation on the ground is not normal, and anxiety among the public is evident.
In a recent conversation, he noted that many people are seen standing in queues for petrol and gas. There is a palpable atmosphere of fear, which is entirely understandable.
He remarked, “The ground reality is that people are anxious, waiting in line, and there is a climate of fear. This fear is justified, as crude oil comes from the regions currently engulfed in war.”
Yadav also questioned India’s minimal domestic crude oil production. He stated, “How much do we produce domestically? Our production capacity is very low, accounting for less than 4-5 percent of our total consumption.”
He further emphasized that the areas from which oil is extracted are currently experiencing conflict, affecting supply. Therefore, to claim that there will be no shortages in the country is simply not true.
Additionally, he expressed concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Yadav mentioned that he had met with the Chief Election Commissioner on this issue.
The Samajwadi Party member highlighted that numerous complaints have arisen regarding this process. He informed the Chief Election Commissioner that while the commission’s intentions may be good, officials operating at the state level often make decisions independently.
He stated that unless action is taken against those officials who create irregularities, the blame will continue to fall on the Election Commission.
Yadav also alleged that in several instances, administrative officials at the collector and SDM levels instruct BLOs to remove certain names from the voter list. He insisted that if such incidents are occurring, strict action should be taken against those responsible.
