Candidates Demand Revised Results for 68,500 Teacher Recruitment in Uttar Pradesh

Candidates protest in Lucknow demanding a revised selection list for teacher recruitment based on OBC criteria.

Lucknow, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Candidates vying for 68,500 assistant teacher positions in Uttar Pradesh staged a protest outside the residence of Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Saturday. They are calling for a revision of the results based on recommendations from the State Backward Classes Commission. Specifically, they seek a 5% relaxation in passing marks for Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates.

Leading the demonstration under the ‘Dastak Do Abhiyan,’ protesters, including leaders Tufan Singh and Ashutosh Verma, emphasized that the commission has recommended this relaxation for OBC candidates. Despite this, they claim their demands have yet to be addressed.

The candidates are insisting that the passing mark be set at 60 out of 150, or 40%, to align with the commission’s recommendations. They are urging the government to revise the exam results accordingly and release a new selection list, which would allow eligible candidates to secure appointments.

Tufan Singh noted that implementing this demand would benefit not only OBC candidates but also individuals with disabilities, ex-servicemen, and dependents of freedom fighters. After receiving the memorandum, Minister Singh assured the candidates that he would advocate for their cause. He plans to meet with the Education Minister and the Chief Minister to facilitate a resolution.

Following the protest, police escorted the candidates to a designated demonstration site at Eco Garden.
