New Delhi, June 8: Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti has expressed strong criticism of the Congress party’s leadership within the India Alliance. He stated that as long as Congress continues to lead, the future of the India Alliance remains bleak.
Bharti emphasized, “The Indian Alliance was formed for a mission. Just as the BJP created the NDA, we established the India Alliance. However, every coalition has its principles. The principle is that what is inside should reflect outside. It was publicly stated that we would fight as a coalition and support each other, yet behind the scenes, Congress seems to be siding with the BJP.”
He further elaborated, “During the Lok Sabha elections, a 4-3 formula was agreed upon in Delhi. For the three seats allocated to Congress, Arvind Kejriwal campaigned openly. However, no Congress leader, including Rahul Gandhi, came to seek votes for the four seats won by the Aam Aadmi Party. What kind of alliance is this? The situation became even clearer during the Delhi Assembly elections when, after winning zero seats, it was claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party had lost. What more proof do we need that Congress does not understand the essence of coalition politics?”
Bharti accused Rahul Gandhi of abandoning Delhi when discussing vote theft. He reiterated that as long as Congress leads the India Alliance, the coalition has no future.
Previously, Bharti remarked that Congress seems to desire a political landscape limited to itself and the BJP, aiming to marginalize other parties to ensure a rotation of power between the two in the future. He claimed that Congress has treated the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi similarly to how it has treated the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. He noted that Congress’s approach towards regional parties varies across states, often indirectly supporting opposition parties.
He stated that wherever a regional party gains strength, Congress attempts to weaken it. The examples of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi and the TMC in West Bengal illustrate this point. Bharti concluded that his party has experienced Congress’s policies firsthand, giving them insight into these dynamics.
