Beijing, May 8: According to China Media Group (CMG), the smart consumer electronics manufacturing sector in China has experienced remarkable growth from January to March this year. The expansion of consumer goods trade-in programs and the deep integration of AI technology with consumer products have provided new momentum to this sector. It is becoming a crucial foundation for the development of China’s industrial economy.
Recently, several new smart devices have been launched for general consumers in China. These include smart glasses capable of object recognition, translation, and photography. Additionally, robots equipped with emotion recognition and human-computer interaction capabilities, as well as AI-powered 3D printers that can print in various colors and materials, have entered the market. Such smart products are emerging as new and attractive options for consumers.
Statistics indicate that in the first quarter of this year, China produced 298 million smartphones, marking a 6.9% increase compared to the same period last year. More than 4.4 million service robots were also manufactured, reflecting a 2.6% rise from the previous year.
The export sector has shown strong performance as well. In the first quarter, the cumulative export distribution value of computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing enterprises exceeded last year’s figures by 4.2%.
During this period, China exported 25.6 million LCD TVs and 8.5 billion integrated circuits, representing increases of 9% and 13.4%, respectively, compared to the first quarter of last year.
Ma Xiaokai, deputy director of the Electronic Information Research Department under the Chinese Electronics and Information Industry Development Research Institute, stated that in the next phase, China will further strengthen the integrated development of the “Artificial Intelligence + Consumption” model. New intelligent business models and industry formats will also be promoted.
He noted that consumption incentive policies, such as trade-in programs, will continue to be implemented. Furthermore, there will be an accelerated focus on research, development, and promotion of new technologies and products, including smart wearable devices and ultra-high-definition video.
China aims to advance the smart consumer electronics industry towards high-level, intelligent, and green development to maximize the industry’s potential and build a new type of intelligent economy.
