CBI Arrests Executive Director of Munition India and Two Others in Bribery Case

The CBI has arrested three individuals, including the Executive Director of Munition India, in a bribery case involving government contracts.

New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Anil Kumar, the Executive Director of Munition India Limited (MIL), along with two other individuals in connection with a bribery case. The arrests were made on Tuesday, as stated in a CBI release on Wednesday.

The agency identified the other two arrested individuals as Ashish Kansal, CEO and promoter of a private defense firm, and B. Harshvardhan, Anil Kumar’s brother. They are accused of accepting illegal bribes in exchange for government benefits.

A case was registered against Anil Kumar on October 12, alleging that he conspired with private contractors and vendors to demand and accept bribes in return for facilitating government contracts.

During a search of Kumar’s premises in Pune, the CBI recovered ₹1.73 crore in cash. Further searches at locations in Mysuru, Bengaluru, and Delhi linked to the accused yielded an additional ₹50 lakh in cash and incriminating documents, according to agency officials.

In total, the CBI reported that approximately ₹2.23 crore in cash was seized during the investigation. The agency is examining the alleged collusion between the public servant and private contractors/vendors, focusing on the circumstances under which bribes were solicited and accepted in exchange for government benefits.

Munition India Limited is a public sector defense enterprise involved in the production of ammunition and explosives. The CBI has indicated that the investigation is ongoing and anticipates uncovering more critical information related to the case.
