Congress MP Accuses Government of Police Brutality During NSUI Protests
Congress MP JB Mathur claims police violence against youth during protests is directed by Home Minister Amit Shah, undermining democracy.

New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : During a recent protest by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Congress MP JB Mathur made serious allegations against the central government and Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing them of orchestrating police brutality against young protesters. He stated that the actions of the Delhi police are not independent decisions but rather directives from the government.
Mathur highlighted that young girls sustained injuries during the protests, emphasizing that the harassment of women and youth is a grave issue. He drew parallels to past events in Gujarat, suggesting that a dangerous pattern is emerging in Delhi. “This is not just a decision by the Delhi police; it is happening under Amit Shah’s orders,” he asserted.
He expressed pride in the youth and girls standing up for democracy, stating, “They are fighting for our rights.” Mathur criticized the police for failing to act as protectors and instead attacking the protesters. He praised Rahul Gandhi for his supportive role, noting that he has ensured that no police officer dares to commit such brutality again.
Furthermore, Mathur accused the BJP of employing distraction tactics, claiming they have no real answers to the issues at hand. He questioned whether the youth protesting on the streets are affiliated with any political party, affirming that they are fighting to save the nation.
Addressing the BJP’s claims of victory in the upcoming 2029 elections, Mathur remarked on the current state of the country, suggesting that the party is fearful and resorting to election manipulation. He vowed to continue the fight under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.
Additionally, NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar expressed concern that democracy is under threat in the country. He criticized the police for abandoning their duty to protect ordinary citizens and students, claiming their primary focus has shifted to suppressing protests against the government.
