BJPs Shazia Ilmi Criticizes Rahul Gandhis Protest Tactics
Shazia Ilmi of BJP condemns Rahul Gandhis use of the national flag during protests, calling it a breach of law and decorum.
New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Shazia Ilmi has sharply criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi‘s approach to protests, particularly regarding his use of the national flag. Speaking in New Delhi, Ilmi claimed that the ongoing rivalry between Gandhi’s Congress party and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is well-known. However, she emphasized that misusing the flag under the guise of protest to break the law is unacceptable.
Ilmi stated, “Everyone is aware of the tussle between Rahul Gandhi and the Congress on one side, and the AAP, which she referred to as a ‘cockroach party,’ on the other. Yet, when it comes to protests, look at how Rahul Gandhi is wielding the national flag. They believe they can bypass legal norms under its cover. Despite signatures on bonds from Saurav Das and others from the CJP, they think they can breach barriers and violate the law using the flag as a shield.”
She warned the AAP that any attempts to undermine the law through proxy teams would not be tolerated. Ilmi questioned Gandhi’s claims of peaceful protests, citing an incident where a female journalist faced violence during a protest. “What kind of peaceful demonstration is this?” she asked, highlighting the troubling behavior of Congress leaders.
Ilmi pointed out that the world has witnessed Congress’s disregard for decorum, including incidents involving Priyanka Gandhi. She accused them of disrespecting the flag and warned that such actions diminish the sanctity of both the law and the national emblem.
BJP MLC Shrikant Panditrao criticized Gandhi for speaking about democracy, pointing out the historical context of the Emergency imposed by his family. He argued that creating misunderstandings about constitutional institutions only undermines democracy. Panditrao expressed that the public is well aware of Gandhi’s intentions behind what he calls a ‘mission.’
He further commented that while political parties may engage in protests over genuine issues, the current attempts by Congress to instigate distrust in India’s democratic institutions represent a significant threat.
BJP MLA Premchand Agarwal added that as the Leader of the Opposition, Gandhi is expected to conduct himself with decorum. While he has the right to criticize, it should be done with restraint, especially regarding those who have dedicated their lives to national security.
The BJP leaders collectively voiced their concerns, stating that the behavior exhibited by Congress is not just superficial but indicative of a larger conspiracy against the integrity of India’s democracy.
