Significance of September 19: Celebrating Radha Ashtami and the Start of Mahalaxmi Vrat

New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Hindu calendar holds significant importance in religious practices. Before embarking on any auspicious activity, such as travel or worship, devotees consult the Panchang, which is based on the positions of the sun, moon, and other celestial bodies.

On September 19, 2026, which falls on a Saturday, the Shukla Paksha Ashtami Tithi will last until 3:27 PM. Following this, the Navami Tithi will commence. This day is especially favorable for worshipping Shri Radha Rani and Mata Mahalaxmi, as it coincides with two major religious occasions: Radha Ashtami and the Mahalaxmi Vrat.

Radha Ashtami celebrates the appearance day of Radha Rani. Observing fasts and performing rituals dedicated to Radha-Krishna on this day is believed to bring love, happiness, and peace into one’s life. Additionally, the Mahalaxmi Vrat will begin on this Saturday, lasting for 16 days and concluding on October 3, 2026. Performing the Kalash establishment and worshipping Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Ganesh is said to invite prosperity into homes.

On this Saturday, sunrise will occur at 6:18 AM, while sunset will be at 6:23 PM. The moon will rise at 1:33 PM and set at 12:11 AM. According to the Panchang, the sun will be positioned in the Uttaraphalguni Nakshatra.

The day will also feature the Ayushman Yoga until approximately 2:29 PM, after which the Saubhagya Yoga will take over. The Abhijit Muhurat, considered the most auspicious time of the day, will be from 11:56 AM to 12:44 PM. The Amrit Kaal will last from 6:23 PM to 8:24 PM.

However, certain periods are deemed inauspicious. Rahu Kaal will be from 10:50 AM to 10:50 AM, Gulika Kaal from 6:18 AM to 7:49 AM, and Yamgand Kaal from 1:51 PM to 3:21 PM. Traditional beliefs advise against starting new ventures during these times.

On this day, the sun will be in Virgo, while the moon will be in Sagittarius. There will be a directional obstacle in the east, and astrological advice suggests avoiding travel in this direction unless necessary, in which case specific remedies should be followed.
