New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : New Zealand’s Trade and Investment Minister Todd McClay recently praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of his 25 years in public service. Speaking from New Delhi, McClay noted the significant transformation in not only the Indian economy but also the prosperity of India and its people during this period.
In an interview, McClay emphasized Modi’s focus on education, highlighting the rapid increase in universities compared to other countries and the substantial investments in infrastructure. He remarked, “Prime Minister Modi has expressed his desire to increase the income of farmers and producers by 50% by 2035. I believe we are joining him in this mission.”
McClay pointed out that New Zealand employs various advanced technologies, which they aim to introduce in India, working together to enhance farmers’ incomes in a manner similar to practices in New Zealand.
As Modi approaches his milestone of 25 uninterrupted years in public service on October 7, he is leading India toward rapid development with the goal of achieving a ‘developed India’ by 2047.
Further discussing bilateral relations, McClay noted that New Zealand has previously engaged with India in various sectors, signing multiple agreements. Recently, a trade agreement has also been established between the two nations.
He stated, “Energy security is crucial. There are numerous opportunities for collaboration, particularly in renewable energy. Clearly, our relationship has advanced significantly. We have agreements for cooperation in security, and our armed forces will work together positively.”
McClay described the India-New Zealand trade agreement as just the beginning. The New Zealand government is keen to strengthen its ties with India, focusing on increased attention and investment.
With elections approaching in New Zealand, McClay expressed hope to visit India before the end of this year, following the elections.
