New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Pappu Yadav, a Member of Parliament from Purnia, has sharply criticized both the state and central governments over their handling of the flood situation in Bihar. Speaking in New Delhi, he expressed frustration that while the ruling BJP seems to remember Nepal, it has neglected the urgent needs of Bihar.
Yadav pointed out that approximately 5.6 million people are affected by the floods. He lamented that during elections, helicopters are abundant, yet none have been deployed to assist those in distress during this crisis. Many residents have been left hungry for days, relying solely on water to survive. He called for a financial package of ₹2,000 crores and the cancellation of debts for the affected population.
While addressing a central team that visited Bihar to assess the flood conditions, Yadav remarked, “In this era of AI and drones, who sent tractors to dry areas without accurate information? We are all exposed. The Chief Minister stepped out for just five minutes, and even after 18 days, the water levels in Ahmedabad, Barari, and Bhagalpur remain unchanged, except in a few areas. You visited after 18 days, sat in a boat for two minutes for photos, but what did you actually see? Did you visit Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, Ahmedabad, Buxar, Nirmali, or Sonpur?”
He also questioned the whereabouts of the ₹5,000 crores announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for flood relief, asserting that this money has not reached the people. Yadav expressed concern over the government’s priorities, saying, “While they remember Nepal, why are they neglecting Bihar?”
Additionally, he critiqued the BJP’s recent “Ashirwad Ka Diya” program on Modi’s birthday, calling it an unprecedented government celebration that has angered the public. He suggested that the party should have focused on creating jobs or organizing a farmer’s fair instead, urging them to take steps to reduce inflation.
