Significance of Pradosh Vrat and Worship of Lord Shiva on October 8, 2026

New Delhi, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Hinduism places great importance on the Panchang, a calendar system that guides auspicious activities like rituals, travels, and investments based on the positions of celestial bodies.

October 8, 2026, a Thursday, holds particular religious significance. It is the day of the Krishna Paksha’s Trayodashi Tithi in the month of Ashwin, coinciding with the observance of Pradosh Vrat. This period is considered highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Shiva. Devotees believe that sincere prayers during this time earn them divine blessings.

According to the Panchang, the Trayodashi Tithi will last until 10:16 PM on this day. The Thursday observance also highlights the importance of worshipping Lord Vishnu and Guru Brihaspati. The Purvaphalguni Nakshatra will be present until 6:32 AM on October 9, while the Variyan Yoga will last until 3:41 AM, and the Kaulav Karana until 8:46 AM.

The evening hours of Pradosh Vrat are especially significant for Lord Shiva’s worship. The Pradosh period will occur between 5:59 PM and 8:27 PM, making it an ideal time for rituals like Abhishekam, Pooja, and lighting lamps. Devotees can offer water, milk, Bilva leaves, and flowers to the Shiva Lingam as a mark of their devotion.

The auspicious Abhijit Muhurat will be from 11:45 AM to 12:31 PM, while Rahu Kaal will fall between 1:29 PM and 2:55 PM. Gulik Kaal is set for 9:03 AM to 10:29 AM, and Yamgand Kaal will be observed from 6:17 AM to 7:43 AM.

The day will commence with sunrise at 6:19 AM and conclude with sunset at 5:47 PM. The moon will rise on October 9 at 2:48 AM and set at 4:28 PM.

As per the Panchang, traveling in the southern direction on Thursdays is considered inauspicious. Therefore, it is advised to avoid such journeys unless absolutely necessary, in which case appropriate spiritual remedies should be observed.
