Bellary, March 29: Indian kabaddi players have gathered at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Bellary for a high-performance camp. The camp aims to build a strong, fit, and prepared group of athletes for upcoming challenges.
Defender Shubham Shinde emphasized that this camp is much more than just daily training. It provides an opportunity to push boundaries in a competitive environment. Shinde previously played for the Telugu Titans in the 12th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
He noted that a key component of this process is the structured fitness tests and conditioning drills. Flexibility and recovery, often overlooked in traditional training setups, are also crucial areas of focus. These elements are essential for improving performance. The tests help athletes understand their fitness levels, especially when competition is intense.
Shinde stressed the importance of yoga and flexibility for players, stating, “To play consistently well, you need to be fully fit and flexible.”
Regarding IIS Bellary, Shinde remarked, “The environment here is equally impactful, providing athletes access to world-class facilities for training, recovery, and accommodation. This setup plays a vital role in helping athletes focus entirely on their preparation. The facilities are excellent, with everything available in one place, which truly aids our improvement.”
He added, “When you come to a camp like this, you must be ready to give your 100 percent. The goal is to keep improving and perform better with each session. As the camp progresses, the intensity will increase, but the focus will remain on consistency, discipline, and maximizing the benefits of every session.”
