Patna, September 2: In a shocking development, police in Patna have arrested three individuals in connection with the suspicious deaths of four people in the Baad police station area. Among those arrested are two suspects and one minor.
During police interrogation, the main suspect, Lali Kumar, reportedly confessed to poisoning the victims’ drinks with alcohol. However, the official confirmation of the presence of toxic substances and the cause of death will depend on the forensic science laboratory (FSL) report.
On August 30, authorities received reports of four individuals suddenly falling ill in Saidpur Tola, Behdna village. They were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Following this, senior police officials initiated an investigation. A forensic team was called to the scene to collect evidence scientifically, and autopsies of the deceased were conducted.
Kundan Kumar, the Superintendent of Police for Patna Rural, stated that Lali Kumar revealed a love affair as the motive behind the incident. According to him, the deceased, Nishoo Kumar, had a romantic relationship with Lali’s sister, which had led to ongoing disputes. Lali also mentioned that the three others who drank with Nishoo often teased him, prompting him to plot against them.
The investigation revealed that Lali obtained the alcohol from Rudal Kumar, who sells potatoes, onions, and vegetables. Rudal, in turn, acquired the alcohol from a minor, who allegedly got it from a person known as Satish, also referred to as Sunny. Police are currently investigating the roles of Satish and other suspects.
Kundan Kumar emphasized that Lali Kumar is considered the main conspirator behind this entire incident. However, the cause of death due to poisoning will only be confirmed after the FSL investigation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case further.
The SIT includes the SDPO of Baad-2, the Baad station chief, and police inspectors from various regions, along with several sub-inspectors and a DIU team. Police are actively conducting raids to apprehend other individuals involved in this case.
