Delhi Police Arrests Two Suspects in Vehicle Theft and Snatching Cases

New Delhi, September 2: The Anti-Snatching and Burglary (ASB) cell of the Delhi Police has apprehended two suspects in connection with vehicle theft and snatching incidents in the eastern district. Among the arrested individuals is a minor. These arrests have led to the resolution of two vehicle theft cases.

According to the Delhi Police, on August 30, a complainant named Ashok Kumar filed an online report regarding the theft of his motorcycle, which occurred on the same day. Subsequently, an e-FIR was registered at the Pandav Nagar police station under Section 305(B), prompting the police to initiate further investigations.

To capture the criminals, a dedicated team from the ASB cell was formed. The team meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. During the investigation, it was discovered that 22-year-old Tushar, also known as Gattu, a resident of Trilokpuri in Delhi, was involved in the motorcycle theft. This information was corroborated through the police informant network. Acting on a specific tip-off, the suspect was apprehended.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wearing the same clothes he had on during the incident, confirming the CCTV-based investigation. Following his identification, the stolen motorcycle was recovered. Further inquiries led to the recovery of another stolen motorcycle, which had been taken from the Mayur Vihar police station area.

During the investigation, Tushar revealed that he had collaborated with a minor to execute several snatching incidents in the Mayur Vihar and Pandav Nagar police station areas, allegedly using the recovered motorcycle. Based on his disclosures, the minor was also apprehended.

During questioning, the arrested individuals admitted their involvement in the current cases and other snatching incidents. They stated that they come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and resorted to theft and snatching to meet their basic needs. They also mentioned a drug addiction to smack. Currently, these revelations are being verified.
