Shocking Murder on Holi in Pakur, Jharkhand

Pakur, March 4: A shocking murder on Holi has sent shockwaves through the Pakur district of Jharkhand. On Wednesday evening, 40-year-old Devaraj Sarkar was killed with a sharp weapon near his home in the Talwadaanga village of the Nagar police station area.

At the time of the incident, his father was present at the scene. According to police reports, Devaraj had returned home after celebrating Holi with friends earlier in the afternoon. Around 4 PM, he was standing near his house when a group of 8 to 10 young men surrounded him.

Witnesses claim that an argument broke out between the two sides, quickly escalating into a physical altercation. The attackers allegedly struck Devaraj multiple times with a sharp weapon, leaving him severely injured. His father, Meghnath Sarkar, stated in his police report that the attack occurred right in front of him.

He pleaded with the assailants to spare his son, but no one listened. Despite his calls for help from nearby residents, fear prevented anyone from intervening. Devaraj’s family rushed him to the sadar hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route.

Upon receiving the news, the Nagar police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. Later, the deceased’s body was handed over to his family.

Police have indicated that initial investigations have led to the identification of the attackers. Family members of the deceased reported that Devaraj had no serious disputes with anyone. However, the exact motives behind the incident remain unclear. The police station chief is leading efforts to apprehend the suspects.

Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice. In the aftermath of the incident, tensions have risen in the village, prompting the deployment of police forces as a precaution.
