Shimla, June 14: A woman was shot dead near the Housing Board Colony in Sanjauli, Shimla, on Saturday, causing widespread panic in the city. The victim has been identified as Meenakshi Mittal, who was associated with the management of Saraswati Paradise School.
According to reports, unidentified assailants opened fire on Meenakshi Mittal near the school gate. Sources indicate she was hit by three bullets, resulting in her immediate death. The attackers fled the scene, reportedly arriving in a vehicle with a Punjab registration.
Upon receiving the news, police arrived at the site and launched an investigation. They have set up checkpoints across Shimla to search for suspects. Nearby CCTV footage is being reviewed, and forensic evidence is being collected.
Shimla’s Additional Superintendent of Police, Abhishek, stated that a police team was dispatched to the scene as soon as they received information about the murder. The area has been secured, and a murder case has been registered, with investigations being conducted from all angles. Special teams have been formed to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Preliminary information suggests that Meenakshi Mittal was involved in a dispute regarding property and school management with her brother. The police are also exploring this angle.
Meanwhile, an old video of Meenakshi Mittal has gone viral on social media following her murder. In the video, she claimed to be associated with Saraswati Paradise School and stated that after her parents’ death, she became the executive chairperson of the school management, with relevant documents supporting her claim. She mentioned that the matter was pending in the High Court.
In the video, Mittal alleged that certain individuals had forged documents and initiated actions against her. She claimed to have been trying to organize the school’s operations while residing on the premises for over two months.
Mittal also accused some individuals of forcibly entering the school premises during the property and school dispute, locking the gates, and creating a tense atmosphere. She noted that teachers and parents were present at that time.
Making serious allegations, Mittal claimed she had received death threats. In the video, she stated that she was warned of being “dealt with” and “killed.” She also alleged that her phone was hacked, offensive messages were spread against her, and her daughter was harassed on social media.
In the video, Mittal expressed dissatisfaction with the police’s lack of support and voiced concerns for her safety. She insisted that any disputes related to the school should be resolved through legal means, rather than threats and coercion.
However, the police have not yet made any official comments regarding the allegations made in the viral video. They stated that the investigation into the murder case is being conducted from all possible angles, and the claims made in the video may also be included in the inquiry.
This daylight murder has raised serious questions about security and law enforcement in Shimla. The ongoing school management dispute and the allegations in the viral video have made the case even more sensitive. The true motive behind the murder will only be clarified after the police investigation.
