Raipur, June 26: Authorities in Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh, have made significant progress in the murder case of a young woman whose body was discovered buried in sand near the Tedi Nala in Ramkheda Jhara on June 22. A minor has been taken into custody as part of the investigation.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Pratibha Pandey, the Khallari police received a tip-off from villagers about the body. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a purse, sandals, and clumps of hair near the partially buried corpse, which showed signs of trauma to the head.
The forensic team conducted a thorough examination of the incident. Investigations revealed that the young woman died from a severe head injury caused by a heavy object, leading to significant blood loss. The deceased has been identified as Bharti Tandon, a resident of Jhara.
Further inquiries indicated that the victim had a friendship with a minor who was also her classmate. She had expressed a desire to marry him, which led to a disagreement between them.
On the day of the incident, the minor called the young woman to meet him, asking her to close her eyes for a surprise gift. When she complied, he struck her on the head with a stone, resulting in her death. He then buried her body in the sand at the same location and discarded her purse and sandals nearby. Afterward, he washed the stone to conceal evidence.
Police have seized the stone and other items based on the minor’s confession. They have registered a case under relevant murder charges and are proceeding with further legal actions.
