Shocking Incident in Mumbai: Man Pushes Wife in Front of Local Train, Arrested in Surat

Mumbai, March 17: A shocking incident has emerged from Mumbai, where a 42-year-old man allegedly pushed his wife in front of an oncoming local train following a domestic dispute, resulting in her death. After the incident, the accused fled the scene but has since been arrested in Surat.

Police reported that after committing the crime, the suspect escaped towards Thane. He took a fast local train from Thane to Dadar and then traveled to Virar. Investigations revealed that he was on a train heading to Gujarat from Virar railway station. A police team was dispatched to Surat, where he was apprehended.

The accused, identified as Rajkumar Gupta, an electrician, confessed during interrogation that he frequently argued with his wife, Pushpa Gupta, aged 36, due to domestic issues. This led him to push her in front of a local train at platform number 1 of Mulund railway station.

According to the victim’s brother, Kamlesh Kumar Gupta, who serves in the army, the couple often had disputes. He had come to take his sister and her 15-year-old son back to their ancestral village in Uttar Pradesh.

On March 14, after another argument, Pushpa approached the police. Subsequently, Kamlesh, Pushpa, and her son arrived at Mulund station. However, Kamlesh realized he had forgotten his army ID card at home. When he and his nephew returned to retrieve it, an enraged Rajkumar locked them inside the house.

Rajkumar then went to Mulund station and pushed his wife in front of the local train before fleeing the scene. Passengers alerted the station master, and railway officials quickly transported Pushpa to a government hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, Kamlesh managed to escape from the house with the help of neighbors. Police confirmed that the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras at the station. A case has been registered against Rajkumar Gupta under Section 103 of the BNS at the Kurla GRP based on the complaint filed.
