Amravati, April 15: A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Amravati district in Maharashtra, sending shockwaves through the community. Police have arrested a man accused of sexually exploiting 180 minor girls and recording over 350 objectionable videos.
The suspect has been identified as Mohammad Ayaz, also known as Tanveer, a resident of Partawada. Initial investigations reveal that he lured minors through social media platforms. He would befriend them and gradually ensnare them in a love trap, eventually taking them to major cities like Mumbai and Pune.
According to police reports, once in these cities, he allegedly exploited the girls and recorded inappropriate videos. Investigators have also discovered that these videos were used to blackmail the victims, coercing them into further illicit activities. There are concerns that some of these videos may have been circulated online, prompting a thorough investigation by the cyber cell.
In response to the gravity of the situation, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde submitted a memorandum to the rural police superintendent, Vishal Anand, demanding the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). He warned that if swift action is not taken, protests will be staged outside the police superintendent’s office.
Following this, police acted quickly, arresting the suspect and placing him in seven days of police custody. Authorities have also seized his mobile phone, which reportedly contains numerous objectionable videos. The cyber cell is now meticulously examining digital evidence to uncover how these videos were disseminated and who else may be involved.
Investigators suspect that this case may involve a larger network rather than just a single perpetrator. Based on this suspicion, police have detained four additional individuals for questioning. Officials believe that further significant revelations may emerge as the investigation progresses.
The incident has sparked widespread anger in Partawada and surrounding areas, with many residents protesting and demanding strict action against the accused. The atmosphere in the town has been tense, resembling a lockdown, prompting a heavy police presence to maintain order.
Additionally, actions are being taken against properties linked to the accused. Reports indicate that bulldozers have been deployed to remove illegal constructions in certain areas. Other parts of the suspect’s home have also been marked for encroachment. The municipal council has issued a 30-day eviction notice.
BJP MLA Praveen Tayde stated that if the encroachments are not removed within the stipulated timeframe, bulldozers will be used to demolish them.
