Bengaluru, June 24: Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour, launched a sharp attack on Karnataka’s Home Minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday. She accused Kharge of frequently targeting the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to stay in the public eye and attract media attention.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Karandlaje suggested that Priyank Kharge, son of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, might believe that his political background shields him from scrutiny.
“Priyank Kharge keeps talking about the RSS daily to remain in the headlines and appear on television. Instead of criticizing the RSS, he should explain what he has achieved as a minister,” she stated.
The central minister alleged that Kharge focuses on making statements against the RSS while ignoring the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
“He spends his time commenting on the RSS instead of addressing crucial issues in the state. Previously, he was the Minister for Rural Development, but his performance there was negligible,” she added.
Karandlaje also accused Kharge of not paying enough attention to significant issues, such as the increasing number of missing men and women in the state. She criticized dynastic politics, claiming that Kharge benefits from being part of a politically influential family while portraying himself as a victim.
“He should first bring the police department under control and focus on their operations,” she emphasized.
Commenting on the recent allegations of cross-voting by BJP legislators in the Legislative Council elections, Karandlaje mentioned that the party has already formed a committee to investigate the matter and has brought it to the attention of senior leaders and party leadership.
“Those who betray the party should not be forgiven. Two legislators have openly supported Congress. If they continue this way, they should leave the BJP,” she concluded.
