Heavy Rain and Waterlogging in Kolaras

Waterlogging in several low-lying localities of Kolaras town has disrupted daily life. On Saturday, Shivpuri city itself received heavy rain for two hours.

Due to two days of rain in the district, rivers and streams are in spate. Atal Sagar Dam (Madikheda) on the Sindh river has released 1,802 cusecs of water through six gates. The administration has issued an alert for nearby areas.

People Taking Risks to Cross Flooded Roads

In Gurukudvaya village of Pichhore subdivision, a tractor driver drove his tractor-trolley through a flooded stream. The villagers travelling in the trolley managed to cross safely. Due to the swelling of streams, water entered school and anganwadi buildings. The situation of Mahuar river on the Khod-Mayapur road in Pichhore is also worrying.

Due to water on the old bridge, people are using ladders on the under-construction new bridge to cross the river. Some are wading directly through the water. Teacher Anil Kumar Lodhi could not reach school because of excessive water at the crossing. In Pahadkhurd village of Khaniyadhana tehsil, a pond overflowed, and construction material for a Hanuman temple was swept away.

Primary Health Centre Flooded

At the primary health centre in Kharai village, Kolaras tehsil, waterlogging has troubled patients and their families. On Saturday, a woman in labour was brought from Chhipaul village, and her relatives had to carry her through knee-deep water to reach the hospital.
