Shankar Ghosh Critiques Mamata Banerjees Election Manifesto in West Bengal

Siliguri, March 20: In a recent development regarding the West Bengal Assembly elections, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee unveiled her party’s manifesto on Friday. BJP leader Shankar Ghosh responded critically, stating that it is time for Banerjee to exit the political scene, asserting that the manifesto will yield no benefits.

During a conversation in Siliguri, Ghosh emphasized that the manifesto will not provide any advantage to Banerjee. He confidently predicted her departure from power on May 4, asserting that the TMC’s manifesto holds no significance and that she will not return to government this year.

Addressing the issue of migration, Ghosh pointed out that under Banerjee’s 15 years of governance, the situation has deteriorated to the extent that people are leaving West Bengal. He dismissed the health-related promises in the manifesto as mere rhetoric, suggesting that they indicate a focus on destruction rather than healthcare, and claimed that the government itself is on “life support.” He stated that the promises made in the manifesto will have no impact on the people of Bengal.

It is noteworthy that Banerjee’s manifesto includes ten ‘pledges’ aimed at ensuring continuous development during her potential fourth term. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, she stated, “I humbly present my 10 ‘pledges’ for Bengal, so that the wheel of development continues to move forward in my government’s fourth term.”

Among the key initiatives, the ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme will increase monthly financial assistance for women. General category women will receive ₹1,500 (₹18,000 annually), while SC/ST beneficiaries will get ₹1,700 (₹20,400 annually), reflecting an increase of ₹500. This scheme focuses on empowering women economically.

The manifesto also promises to provide each family with a permanent house and ensure piped drinking water access to every household. Health services will include ‘Dware Chikitsa’ camps in every block and city to bring medical facilities closer to the people. In education, the ‘Banglar Shikshayatan’ initiative will emphasize infrastructural upgrades in all government schools.
