Faridabad, April 4: A significant accident occurred at the Ballabgarh bus depot in Faridabad on Saturday, leaving a bus driver seriously injured. Following the incident, other drivers and conductors present at the depot expressed their anger and halted bus operations in protest.
According to reports, Kailash, a driver originally from Rajasthan, was assisting in reversing another bus while standing near his own vehicle at the city bus service station. It was reported that as the bus was being reversed, its brakes suddenly failed, causing it to lose control and collide with another bus parked nearby. During this incident, Kailash became trapped between the two buses and sustained severe injuries to his shoulder and head. Other drivers and conductors on the scene quickly rescued him from between the buses and rushed him to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
Currently, he is receiving medical care, and doctors are monitoring his condition. Santaram, a driver operating from the Ballabgarh bus stand, mentioned that they received news around 8 AM that a colleague had been seriously injured between two buses. This information sparked widespread anger among all drivers and conductors present at the depot.
The drivers claim that the buses are not properly maintained and serviced on time. Many buses have been operating on the roads without adequate maintenance for an extended period. They argue that if regular inspections and repairs were conducted, this accident might have been avoided. In response, all drivers and conductors staged a sit-in at the bus depot, halting bus services. They demand that a senior official come to the site to discuss the matter before resuming bus operations.
Meanwhile, Amit, the operations manager for the city buses, stated that this was a technical accident. He explained that buses are serviced regularly; however, the bus involved in the incident likely experienced a brake failure due to a technical issue. He assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the accident. For now, the injured driver Kailash is being treated in the hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable.
