Sergio Gore Congratulates Ted Sarandos on Netflixs Decade in India

New Delhi, August 6: U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gore met with Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos on Thursday. During their meeting, Gore congratulated Sarandos on Netflix’s ten-year anniversary in India.

Gore expressed his delight in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “It was a pleasure to meet Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos in New Delhi on Thursday. Celebrating a decade of Netflix in India is a testament to how American technology and the entertainment industry set a high standard for creative excellence worldwide. Congratulations to Netflix on this significant achievement. By the way, what’s your favorite Netflix series or show?”

Just a day earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met with Sarandos. Modi congratulated him, emphasizing that India’s media and entertainment sector is filled with immense potential. He noted that the country’s rich storytelling tradition and creative talent could position India as a global hub for content creation.

Sharing details of the meeting on ‘X’, Modi wrote, “It was great to meet Ted Sarandos. We discussed the vast potential of India’s media and entertainment sector. Our rich storytelling tradition and extraordinary creative talent can play a crucial role in making our country a center for global content creation.”

Sarandos acknowledged India’s longstanding reputation as one of the world’s great storytelling nations. He remarked that Indian stories have resonated deeply with audiences not just in the country but around the globe over the past decade. He added that Netflix’s largest investment will be in those who bring the next generation of Indian stories to the world.

During the meeting, Netflix reaffirmed its commitment to India’s creative economy by announcing the ‘Netflix India Storytelling Initiative’. This initiative will involve strategic partnerships with leading institutions in India to provide training and skills tailored to industry needs in animation, visual effects (VFX), gaming, and comics for the next generation of talented creators.

Sarandos stated that the ‘Netflix India Storytelling Initiative’ is part of the company’s long-term commitment to strengthen India’s creative ecosystem and create new opportunities for emerging creators.
