Nadbai, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) made significant arrests on Thursday in Nadbai, Bharatpur district, apprehending a senior medical officer and a private individual for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹35,000.
The ACB reported that Shashikant Sharma, a senior medical officer at the local government hospital, was accused of soliciting this amount from a complainant. The demand was allegedly channeled through Trilokchand Sharma, who was acting as a middleman in the transaction.
The bribe was sought in connection with the preparation of a crucial medico-legal case (MLC) report concerning injuries sustained by the complainant’s family members. The complainant had previously filed a complaint of assault at the Nadbai police station, necessitating a medical examination for the injured individuals at the government hospital.
Following the complaint, the ACB’s Dholpur unit conducted a discreet investigation and confirmed the bribe request before executing a trap operation. This operation was overseen by Omprakash Meena, Deputy Inspector General of Police for the ACB Bharatpur Range, and led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Premchand Meena from the Dholpur unit.
During the operation, ACB officials reportedly caught Trilokchand Sharma accepting the ₹35,000 on behalf of Shashikant Sharma. The bureau recovered the money from Sharma’s pants pocket. Shashikant Sharma was subsequently detained at his official residence.
Further inquiries and legal actions are ongoing, with the bureau indicating that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act will be filed, and additional investigations will follow.
