Uttar Pradesh Minister Criticizes Opposition for Undermining Democracy

Mainpuri, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Minister Jayveer Singh has accused the opposition of undermining democracy and breaking laws following protests by the Cockroach People’s Party and comments made by Rahul Gandhi after meeting President Droupadi Murmu. Singh dismissed claims by Akhilesh Yadav regarding his party’s potential victory in upcoming elections, suggesting that Yadav merely fantasizes about forming a government.

Singh stated, “Currently, whether it’s the opposition or others, there is a trend of breaking laws, weakening democracy, and tarnishing the image of constitutional institutions. This is increasingly becoming a concern. Today, even at Jantar Mantar, the Chief Justice of India was not allowed to protest. Such occurrences are not good for democracy.”

He emphasized that activities aimed at weakening constitutional institutions, holding events without permission, or engaging in disruptive behavior are detrimental to both democracy and the constitutional framework. “The public will not accept such actions,” he added.

Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s comments after meeting with President Murmu, Singh highlighted the dignity and respect associated with constitutional offices, especially the presidency. He questioned the appropriateness of Gandhi’s approach, suggesting that if one is there to submit a memorandum, they should adhere to proper decorum rather than resort to aggression or inappropriate language.

In response to Yadav’s assertions about electoral success, Singh remarked that Yadav often imagines forming a government, having claimed victory in 2022 and before that, too. “He regularly makes such statements,” Singh noted.

On the topic of the Cockroach People’s Party protests, Singh acknowledged the constitutional right to protest but stressed the importance of adhering to legal protocols. “While the right to protest is guaranteed in a democracy, it is crucial to follow the established procedures to strengthen the system,” he concluded.
