Tehran, July 30 – Saudi Arabia has released 12 Iranian nationals who were in custody and has sent them back to Iran, according to Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim on Wednesday. All of the released individuals were fishermen who had been arrested for allegedly entering Saudi territorial waters.

Quoting the Iranian Embassy, the report stated that the release was made possible after completing legal proceedings and fulfilling the necessary formalities. The embassy also noted that continued diplomatic engagement and dialogue with Saudi authorities played a key role in securing their release.
However, the report did not mention when the fishermen were arrested or the exact dates of their release and repatriation.
15 Iranian Fishermen Still in Custody
Tasnim also reported that 15 other Iranian fishermen remain imprisoned in Saudi Arabia on similar charges. The Iranian Embassy is actively pursuing their cases with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aiming to secure their release as a priority.
