Satna, August 2 (H.S.) — A serious incident has come to light involving a death threat against renowned Vrindavan-based spiritual leader Sant Premanand Maharaj. A youth from Satna district in Madhya Pradesh allegedly posted a threatening comment on Facebook, stating he would “cut the throat” of the saint. The post, made in response to a comment on social media, has gone viral, prompting strong reactions from devotees and social organisations across the Rewa-Satna region.

Controversial Reaction to Viral Video

The threat surfaced after a video of Sant Premanand Maharaj went viral, in which he advised youth to lead a disciplined and moral life. He criticised the increasing trend of boyfriend-girlfriend relationships, breakups, and patch-ups, saying such behaviours were leading young people astray.

In response to this video, Satna resident Shatrughan Singh made a Facebook post on Thursday, writing, “This is a matter concerning the entire society. Had he said something about my family, whether it was Premanand or anyone else, I would have cut his throat.” The post quickly spread on social media and triggered sharp criticism on Friday.

Strong Reactions from Hindu Organisations

Vivek Pandey, State Vice President of Shiv Sena, expressed strong opposition to the post. In a video statement released on Friday, he said, “Sant Premanand Maharaj is a revered figure for crores of devotees. He represents truth, faith, and belief in today’s time. Lakhs of devotees eagerly seek his blessings.” Pandey urged the police to take immediate legal action in the matter.

Balakrishna Dwivedi of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad also condemned the incident. He said that while the Constitution grants every citizen the right to disagree with opinions, issuing death threats to a saint or talking about beheading him is absolutely unacceptable and reprehensible. He emphasised that insulting saints creates tension in society and must be addressed with appropriate legal action.

Police Yet to Receive Formal Complaint

Several local organisations have also condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the accused. A complaint has reportedly been filed with the Satna police. However, Satna SP Ashutosh Gupta stated that no formal complaint has been received so far. He assured that appropriate legal action will be taken as per the law once a complaint is filed.
