Sanju Samson Achieves Unique Milestone in IPL, Joins Kohli and Rahul

New Delhi, May 6: In an exciting match on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets, thanks to Sanju Samson’s explosive unbeaten 87 runs. This remarkable performance has earned Samson a unique achievement, making him the third batsman to reach this milestone after Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Against Delhi Capitals, Samson scored 87 runs off 52 balls, hitting 6 sixes and 7 fours. In their first encounter of the season, he had already made a century, scoring an unbeaten 115 runs. Across both matches against DC this season, he has amassed a total of 202 runs. Samson is now the third batsman in IPL history to score 200 or more runs against a single team in a season. Kohli and Rahul previously achieved this feat.

In IPL 2016, Kohli scored centuries in both matches against Gujarat Lions, totaling 209 runs with scores of 100 and 109. He holds the record for the most runs scored in two matches against a single team in a season.

KL Rahul, during IPL 2022, scored unbeaten 103 runs in both matches against Mumbai Indians, totaling 206 runs while playing as captain for Lucknow Super Giants. He ranks second in this category.

Samson now stands third, while Chris Gayle is fourth, having scored a total of 196 runs against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013, with scores of 175 not out and 21. Rahul is also fifth, having scored 193 runs against RCB in IPL 2020, with scores of 132 not out and 61.
