PM Modi Critiques Congress After MLC Election Results in Four States

PM Modi targets Congress over its poor performance in recent MLC elections across four major states, highlighting the partys failure to secure any seats.

New Delhi, October 28 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media on Wednesday to comment on the recent Legislative Council (MLC) elections held in four significant states: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Karnataka. The elections, conducted via ballot, involved 28 seats, and Modi questioned the Congress party’s performance, asking how many seats they managed to win.

His remarks come in response to opposition claims regarding alleged electronic voting machine (EVM) fraud and their demand for elections to be conducted using paper ballots. The results of the MLC elections, which were recently announced, revealed that Congress failed to secure a single seat in three out of the four states, including a complete wipeout in Maharashtra.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi echoed Modi’s sentiments, noting that Congress could not win any of the 28 seats contested. He criticized the party for continuously alleging vote theft and questioning democratic institutions, yet blaming the system when results do not favor them.

Joshi pointed out that while Congress raised concerns about EVMs and alleged irregularities, they also faced defeat when it came to ballot voting, resulting in a significant loss that raises doubts about the validity of their claims.

The MLC elections were conducted for 28 graduate and teacher constituencies across the four states. Uttar Pradesh saw voting for 11 seats, comprising five for graduates and six for teachers. Bihar had eight seats, evenly split between graduates and teachers. Maharashtra held elections for five seats, while Congress lost all four seats in Karnataka.
