Sanjeev Arora Dismisses Speculations of Joining BJP, Affirms Commitment to AAP

Chandigarh, April 27: Sanjeev Arora, a minister in the Punjab government, has finally addressed rumors regarding his potential shift to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). On Monday, he firmly stated, “I am not joining the BJP.”

In a conversation in Chandigarh, Arora emphasized that there are no plans for him to switch parties. “I am a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and will continue to be one. I serve as a minister in the Punjab government and will keep meeting with everyone in that capacity,” he asserted.

His remarks come at a time when seven Rajya Sabha members from AAP, representing Punjab, have recently joined the BJP. Raghav Chadha even suggested that these members were in the wrong party, leading to speculation about possible defections among AAP’s Punjab legislators.

However, Arora has put an end to all speculation regarding his joining the BJP.

On another note, addressing the ongoing power cuts in Punjab, Arora acknowledged that the issue is not limited to Punjab but is affecting various states across the country. He noted that North India is particularly facing challenges.

“The power problem has arisen due to the extreme heat. Nevertheless, the electricity department and we are making every effort to resolve this issue. I believe the situation will normalize in the coming days,” he stated.

Regarding the Enforcement Directorate’s raids, he mentioned that he had already communicated his stance through an ex-post statement. In a previous press conference, Arora assured that after May 1, residents would not face any power-related issues. He added that arrangements are underway to secure necessary electricity through ‘power banking’ agreements with other states, and the state government plans to purchase an additional 1,500 megawatts of power.

The BJP has been consistently criticizing the Bhagwant Mann government over the electricity crisis.
